Benefits of Solitude in Everyday Life

Solitude is beneficial in today's environment where life is full of stress & strain, enjoying solitude can help us to overcome a number of our problems without actually trying anything else.

Enjoying Solitude frequently can help in solving a number of problems in our life, it can provide amazing benefits which we simply loose everyday because of our extremely complex lifestyle.

Solitude isn't isolation or loneliness but a state of being aware of our actual requirements and objectives in life, which are normally not visible to us in our day to day busy life.

Solitude is a state of being self. One may misunderstand solitude as a state of loneliness or isolation due to some external reasons.

Solitude is not a boring state, a state of negative mentality, a state of pain which is forced on a person. Solitude is like voluntary retirement, a state of relaxation, a motivation to enjoy life, by looking at the positive side of life calmly.

We need to find this solitude in everyday life, for ourself, our family, our friends and society. Benefits of solitude can not be described in words just like happiness. Finding A little Solitude in Everyday Life can improve energy level and self confidence along with a strong positive attitude towards life.

Thoughts in Solitude - Recognizing Important of Solitude for Integrity and Ability to Love

Thoughts in solitude is a book written during 1953-54 by Monk Thomas Merton. It recognizes importance of Solitude for human beings and how it effects our morality, integrity, and ability to love. This is a good book written by someone who has a vast practical experience in this field.

Observation of solitude is important for personal growth, to enjoy mental satisfaction, cordial relation in family and society. Today we are imitating machines, we think and act as if we are a production house, we try to be efficient, productive, result oriented without even looking at our life, enjoying beauty of life. A strong reason for number of problems faced by modern society (which they don't understand now but will realize it later).

This book thoughts in solitude will help us to understand things better something which this lens fails to explain clearly.

Learning a little bit of this art of enjoying solitude can help in enjoying a healthy and peaceful life. There are so many ways to find solitude and one that works best for us is one one which relaxes us, helps us to forget about current problem and pain, lifts our mood. Solitude isn't always a silence (if silence isn't able to keep our brain silent) or loneliness (sometimes a person can feel lonely even in a crowded place), we can enjoy solitude with music (that soothes) or reading (that calms our mind) or some activity (exercise, game, house work, gardening, walking) which makes us feel lighter.

Here are some resources specifically meant for the purpose of enjoying solitude.

How to Enjoy Solitude?

Tips to Discover and Enjoy Solitude Everyday.

Benefits of solitude are actually discovered by accidents, when we get enough free time to experiment. Enjoying solitude everyday for a few moments is not only a good way to relax but also helpful an easy way to charge battery of life, with inspiration, motivation and positive thoughts.

It is not possible to find and enjoy solitude when we are tensed or we have few minutes in our hand, or we have especially set aside some time from our busy schedule. Getting closer to feelings called Solitude is only possible when we are free, relaxed, have no commitment at the moment, nobody there to disturb.

I myself find solitude when I've finished my work and am sitting alone at the rooftop, watching the stars or in a room listening to music. In few moments after my thoughts have moved haphazardly on things that make sense for me, on problems and there solutions, I start feeling good, I see a positive light, positive aspect of life. A life which is good, a life which is happier, a life which is meant to live.

There is no special way to enjoy solitude, it's a feeling that comes to us when we are alone, we are free and relaxed. There is no single way to find and enjoy solitude, each can discover his/her own way to find and enjoy solitude in everyday life. A little time to think about our own self.

So, here are some basic things to consider in order to enjoy solitude:-

1. We must be alone. This is the only and most important condition to find solitude.

2. We must have enough free time to spend with our self.

3. We must be relaxed and free from any tension.

4. We can do anything that gives us happiness or peace of mind.

5. Listening to music can also help us in reaching that state of mind called solitude.

6. Some people enjoy solitude in gardening, traveling, walking, jogging etc. so it depends on personality or nature of a person.

7. Don't get over involved in solitude, as it can have negative effect if one is overpowered by negative feelings, which can effect social life.

I think the above pointers will help you to find peace of mind and enjoying inner silence called solitude.

Solitude Vs Isolation

Difference between solitude and isolation?

Solitude in its true sense is not isolation, its a temporarily created mental state of isolating all problems, worries and clutters of everyday life.

Its like enjoying some moments of happiness. So, in other words solitude isn't isolation but its a connection, connection with true happiness, connection with your self, without worrying about the current circumstances and how they are effecting your life.

Isolation on other hand is being thrown out of something or somewhere. Isolation describes a prison, a mentality of a prisoner overtakes a person when he is isolated, he is surrounded by negative thoughts and negative mentality like hate.

Solitude isn't an attraction for negative thoughts, if it is so then please don't call it solitude, you are misunderstanding loneliness as solitude, which gives a feeling of departure. A person who is lonely feels departed from what he/she is striving to be with.

Solitude is a positive energy, it creates more energy in a person then any other exercise, food or drink can create. This energy is lasting, it stays for quiet long time, it helps a person to lead a happy and peaceful life without getting perpetuated by obstacles that otherwise look over-sized.

So, solitude is quiet different from isolation, one can enjoy solitude in isolation but solitude is not isolation.

Solitude is actually a search for meaning. A time to find solutions. A time to relax and relieve ourselves of our duties. Solitude can provide true happiness and motivation without taking support of any external factor like money, success, relation etc. Viktor E. Benefits of Solitude

Role of solitude in our life and How can it help Us.

Solitude plays a major role in our life. When we sleep our whole body and body system takes rest and enjoys these relaxing moments, which recharges and energizes it for next days work. Similarly solitude helps our active mind to cool down, to be itself and relax.

Some direct benefits of enjoying solitude can be:

1. Rediscover yourself : Rediscover yourself, a time to see our self, without any worldly covers.

2. Enjoy success : Everybody has some personal achievements and success in life which we seldom realize in our day to day busy life. Solitude gives them an opportunity to disclose themselves.

3.Inner Peace and tranquilityIt's a time to get in touch of abundant inner peace and tranquility, a state of self motivation.

4. Realize Easiness of LifeLife is so simple and easy for everyone, we are responsible for making it difficult and a tedious job. Our agitated minds don't let us understand this simple thing, when we enjoy solitude we respond this real meaning of life.

5.Improved Quality of Life If we frequently enjoy solitude, a little time without worries of everyday life, we gradually improve quality of life for ourself, our family, society and the universe.

These are some of the most common benefits of enjoying solitude, which are vital for any human being. These benefits cannot be found in any material gain.

Meaning of Life in Solitude

Calm Introinspection lets us discover our meaning of life.

Everyone of us have more then one objective in life. Priorities associated with these objectives depends primarily on predominant circumstances and our own mental phase (i.e. experience with life). We may not be aware of our primary goals and objectives as we hardly get time to look into our self, read our mind, think about tasks that are close to our heart.

Today we are busy, un-necessarily busy and our mind is involved even when we sleep, on tasks that we perceive to be important. Solitude gives us a little break, a time to think about our own self, our personal goals, things that makes us happy, long forgotten dreams and a lot more, it can help us to find our own meaning of life, our own destination in life.

Today we all know how busy we are, basic things of life are also put on hold due to our over involvement with it. Solitude brings these things to our immediate attention and thus helps us in solving a number of complex looking problems in easy steps. Thus a meaningful life can only be discovered with solitude today. Most of us are helplessly following a path which isn't natural, which cannot co-exit with nature and yet we don't realize this, do not have enough time to understand this as our modern lifestyle doesn't permits this.

Well, personally I need solitude for few moments everyday, although it is not scheduled but I do feel its consequences, as I become more worldly, more indulged in personal welfare then is actually needed.

What do you think, is it a positive approach to life or a negative?
